This rustic private oasis getaway is the former private estate of the most famous New Orleans chef, Paul Prudhomme. The compound is surrounded by a private heated swimming pool,  jacuzzi, gym, game room and meditation garden. The property is also surrounded by wine grape vines, Apple, Orange, Peach, Pear, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin, Cumquat, Fig Fruit Trees and Herb and Berry gardens.  You will feel like you walked into the garden of Eden. 

Chef Prudhomme filmed his famous "farm to table" TV shows on the property where he gathered fresh herbs from his backyard and cooked up his New Orleans delicacies in his test kitchen where his recipes are now sold in over 50 countries around the world. Before Prudhomme, this historical compound was owned by the Walton Family of Walmart fame (the richest family in the world) and prior to the Waltons, owned by one of the founding fathers of Jazz Music, Papa Jack Laine.

Absolutely beautiful property, with some surprising history of its own. Will probably go back and stay again but only if I have enough people for the main house.

Great getaway
The compound is a short walk to the French Quarter near the French Market and a couple of blocks from Frenchmen street with great live music and restaurants.  The place its self had small rooms and common spaces, but the property has such great spaces to sit and visit with a bigger group you do not need the space in the house.  All the grand outdoor spaces are in little areas that allow you to get seclusion from any other groups outside on the grounds.  It is a great getaway in its own little oasis.

Probably the greatest AirBnb that I've stayed in so far. The house was way bigger than I thought it was going to be and looked just like the pictures.  The pool, hot tub and courtyard were amazing. Location was fantastic. We were minutes away from the French Quarter which was very handy. Definitely worth the money. Highest possible recommendation.

Beautiful place, the aesthetics were wonderful. The only thing i felt should have been advised was how steep the stairs were. I stayed in the pool house and found the stairs very questionable. No incidents but not very drunk friendly. Otherwise a wonderful stay. The grounds keeper was phenomenal, and just the vibes from this place was unlike any other. Id definitely book again.

We had a great stay! Actually had a ton of issues with another Airbnb on Miami Beach, and had to move out ASAP. Laurie accommodated an early check in and we were instantly at ease thanks to the beach views and ample space. Bathrooms were great, beds were great, and loved that there were beach supplies that we could use!

My friends and I had a fantastic time and were comfortable at The Chateau. Prior to our arrival, Michael was very responsive to questions. At the time of arrival, Wilson was extremely helpful and friendly. Other folks working at The Chateau were lovely and warm. It's a great location, allowing us to walk to almost every destination we hoped to visit. The outdoor space was so comfortable, and other guests were respectful. Thank you for a wonderful stay. I will definitely consider The Chateau for future visits to New Orleans!

The property is beautiful.  Heated pool/hot tub, plenty of outdoor seating.  Everyone was very friendly and helpful from the host Michael, to the staff on site.  The other great part.....The location is within walking distance to Bourbon Street!  We plan to book again next year when we are in town!

This place is generally fine though it smelled like sewage (turn on the AC), and the shared pool area was heavily used. The location is 5-10mins from the French quarter but can feel bleak, and particularly desolate at night. The number of security cameras on all the houses attests to the high crime.

The house and the pool are very nice. It's worth noting - this listing is part of a shared community of homes and the pool/hot tub are shared with at least 3 houses. 

In the house we had, the couch and beds were very cozy and the kitchen was huge.

There were 9 people in our party. We enjoyed staying close to Frenchman St. where we saw great music each night. We were disappointed by the overall lack of cleanliness and found some areas of the home awkward and uncomfortable. There were several appliances that didn't work properly or at all.

Cold greeting from the “butler” (who wasn’t a butler, he wasn’t considerate, he was dressed as if he was a pedestrian on the street and lacked the attention to detail that was needed to deem him as a butler. 

The moment we walked in, we immediately noticed the small basic double bed holiday inn style refrigerators that were placed in the kitchen, and offered to guest in a full size kitchen that they expected us to use.Mind you, the property that we booked is a five bedroom three bathroom property, so the fact that, the property’s staff expected our entire party of six, to utilize two small refrigerators for the duration of our stay was absurd!  After we asked if there was some way he could help with bigger accommodation on a refrigerator he brought Us a standard size refrigerator that looked like it had been outside in a garage ... it was completely dirty. The second thing we noticed was the immediate stinch of dog fecices. Which was in the entrance of the walk way of the property that one of our guest stepped in upon entry. Unfortunately tracking it into our villa. Said poop remained uncleaned or sanitized from the entry of the property. Our first night in the property was far from comfortable, and even further from what we expected based on the AirBNB aid. The pool was not private and dirty. The staff wasn’t pleasant. There was no need to request a wake up call because we were all awkoken to the sound of drilling and construction multiple times during our stay, Which occurred during the early morning! The worst part of our stayed had to be the fact that there was no heat our first night in the property and some of guest was locked in the bathroom over four times, do to the fact that the door knob wasn’t functional.
Last but not least The pool was also murky the entire time until it was time to check out, so we couldn’t use it to our benefit.  

As you would expect our group mentioned each indesgration to the staff in due time, but unfortunately the lack of customer service and attention to detail made it very difficult to our issues resolved in a timely manner. Overall we were underwhelmed with our overall stay in the New Orleans chateau in comparison to what was advertised. ⭐️

This location can’t be beat in New Orleans. Safe, lots of free street parking, comfy mattresses. We enjoyed our stay and especially enjoyed the heated pool!

Only critiques-

-the high price is a lot for the communal space. You share the courtyard with others
-no fridge, a few mini fridges that don’t cut it when you have lots of food and drinks!

Other than that, really cool house with lots of space. We used all the bedrooms and really appreciated how much space we had! Location is amazing, so close to Frenchman, the water, and anything else you want to get to. Recommend!

It’s a great beautiful place. Could use some love... not at that clean when checking in, no refrigerator only 2mini fridges, issue with hot water. If one person is showering the other two showers do not have hot water. The place is beautiful but needs some love..

Other than Michael’s cold, almost robotic responses to the few inquiries we had on the house, he was also surprisingly unhelpful with the misrepresented bed count situation. Please know that this place is more of a compound of several houses- all varying sizes and I think our travel group was put in the wrong house since we were down on bed count and one member of my travel group had to make a last minute booking at a hotel. Kind of a bummer. Michael refused to refund her money towards the house expenses. The on site property manager Jeff was fantastic though and one of the bright spots of this trip.

My entire stay was amazing. The staff was helpful and nice. They gave us suggestions on places to go. I would recommend this trip to everyone

Michael was a very responsive host. He did everything he could in order to make us feel welcome. Jeff the property manager and Jay(forgot his position) made us feel at home. Anytime we requested something for the house they would get it to us in no time. The pool and the surrounding chair were extremely relaxing which is ideal being in the big easy. The location to the strip on Bourbon was perfect. All in all it was a great trip and we have our hosts to thank for that. Highly recommend.

Beautiful and classic Nola shotgun home. You can walk to Frenchman and the quarter no problem. Loved getting coffee from The Orange Couch every morning.

This place was really cool! The location is outstanding if your looking to be align distance from all the bars & restaurants. There is also a grocery store close by. Brandon was the host that greeted us & he also helped us with finding some places to visit. I would definitely stay here again with a group of people. It was better than I even expected!

The grounds and location can't be beat.  simply amazing courtyard that our group thoroughly enjoyed.  beds were unbelievable comfortable and showers were great.  quick walk to Frenchman street or French quarter.  plenty of spits within walking distance.   You will definitely enjoy tjis place - yes the courtyard is shared but it's huge so it's not an issue.  Good mix of night life and relaxation.

Michaels place was the best!  The staff was not only accommodating they anticipated our needs before we did and were a joy to be around.  The other groups that were staying in the village were absolutely wonderful.  Michael has created a great group environment for his guests.

Michael and team went above and beyond to make sure our group had an awesome time! The location is amazing, walking distance to pretty much everything. The pool on the property is great and the house was perfect for our group. I would definitely recommend staying here, and do plan on staying here again when I come back.
